We have an enemy and his name is satan…to know how to defeat him we must know him!

Know your enemy!!

Most important thing we can do in reference to VICTORY!

Who is satan?

What can he do?

Who is satan??

  • Former cherub – unemployed cherub
  • He is the all time greatest loser in the universe.
  • He is the leader of a horde of homeless emps.
  • The accuser of the brethren
  • God of this world.
  • The leader of a resistance against the Lord of Hosts.
  • Defeated foe

You can believe what he tells you or you can believe what the Word of God says about him.

(Isa 14:12-16 KJV) How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! {13} For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: {14} I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. {15} Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. {16} They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

(1 John 3:8 KJV) He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

(Col 2:10-15 KJV) And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: {11} In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: {12} Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. {13} And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; {14} Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; {15} And } And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. (the cross)

Defeated!!!

Heavens Greatest REJECT!! The Head loser!!

 What can he do?

  • Lie & deceive.
  • Accuse.
  • Take control of all the control that is given him.
  • Tempt….run his mouth…no ability to force those who are not willing….use others to do it.
  • Mock.
  • Criticize.
  • Harass.
  • Possess.
  • Use the laws of the earth to his advantage…curses - third and fourth generation
  • King of manipulators.

There are three places that trouble can come from….

  1. The Judgement of God.
  2. The sins of Man.
  3. Man under the influence of satan.

You can sin without the devil.

  • Lie
  • Cheat
  • Steal
  • Sexual perversion

And a long list more…they call it the flesh!

Of course, when you sin you are serving him because he is the originator of rebellion…which is at the center of all sin.

(1 John 3:8 KJV) He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

The devil is opportunistic!!

He will seize any opportunity to take hold in your life.

(1 Pet 5:7-11 KJV) Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. {8} Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: {9} Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. {10} But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. {11} To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

(Eph 4:24-32 KJV) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. {25} Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. {26} Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: {27} } Neither give place to the devil. {28} Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. {29} Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. {30} And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. {31} Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: {32} And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Place - topos, top'-os; appar. a spot (gen. in space, but limited by occupancy; whereas G5561 is a larger but partic. locality), i.e. location (as a position, home, tract, etc.); fig. condition, opportunity; spec. a scabbard:--coast, licence, place, X plain, quarter, + rock, room, where.

Habitation – residence – foothold – license!!

Permission!!!

WOW…permission…powerful word!

(Rom 6:12-18 KJV) Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. {13} Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. {14} For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. {15} What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. {16} Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? {17} But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. {18} Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Power VS Authority

You may have the power to speed but a policeman has the authority to fine you and lock you up!

Power – Speeding

Authority – Officer

Satan might have the power to attack you but you have the authority to stop him and limit him!

(Eph 1:16-23 KJV) Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; {17} That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: {18} The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, {19} And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, {20} Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, {21} Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: {22} And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, {23} Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
